Specs and Brief
2.5” x 3.5” (standard poker card dimensions) to fit inside portable Legends of Gadia (“LoG”) card game box
Abbreviated timeline: Complete all design with time for copyedits and adjustments within one week
Brief: Prioritize readability and larger text size/ease of learning the game above other considerations
Used distinct iconography for each section as well as and different colors lining page edges for each section to facilitate navigation and create visual organization:
Thoughtful design choices and custom graphics created to maximize readability in the small size format (e.g. I created simple card designs to stand in for the complex artwork of the actual cards when creating illustrative graphics like the one below):
A judicious use of images in key areas like start-of-sections to add visual interest but maximize limited page count and page size:

Given the limited number of pages, my original intention to include a Table of Contents page (Alternative Layout 1 below) was ultimately excised in favor of including a page of biographical information, as this aligned better with the biographical emphasis of this exhibition.

I used complementary colors and solid text color blocks to reflect the color palette of the artwork in the exhibition. I layered blocks of color in various shades of the same color to add subtle visual interest in the backdrop without competing with the intense detail and pattering in the artworks themselves:

Brief: Imitate the experience of reading a published paperback book in interior pages (24-page writing sample of an unpublished book); optimize full-color interior covers for advertising

Project: Typography Booklet
Specs and Brief
6” x 6” perfect-bound booklet; 24 pages; one pantone color
Brief: Create an educational pamphlet about typography as a design showpiece. Utilize the font Frutiger (and its familial fonts Univers and Avenir), invented by famed 20th century Swiss typographer Adrian Frutiger; also feature a page of biographical information on Frutiger.
Challenge: Design a visually arresting booklet while using only one pantone color (in addition to black ink) in a variety of tints.
